History

The band was founded in January 2003 by Janet Hyatt and Karen Eitland, two music educators who had a vision for creating an ensemble to provide committed musicians the opportunity to share their talents and further develop their musicianship skills with others in symphonic ensemble performance. Our non-auditioned members bring varied skill levels and performance experiences to our rehearsals. They enjoy the challenge of stretching their musical growth under the leadership of director, Barry Zumwalde. The band’s purpose is to contribute positively to the musical environment of the areas we serve, and to reaffirm the community band position in American music.

From the beginning, CCB has been supported by Centennial ISD 12 Community Education and the Centennial ISD 12 Instrumental Music Department.  We are grateful for their support. In particular, we’d like to thank these individuals who assist us in so many ways:
